A WORKSHOP ABOUT 1915 EVENTS WILL BE HELD IN GERMANY

A Workshop which aims to explain 1915 events to the youth will be held on 14 April at the Consulate General of Turkey in Cologne. 

CONFERENCE ON KAZAKHSTAN’S FOREIGN POLICY WAS HELD AT AVİM

On 29 March 2019, a conference on the topic of Kazakhstan’s foreign policy with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Yerzhan Ashikbayev as the speaker was held at AVİM. During the conference, H.E. Ashikbayev was accompanied by Kazakhstan’s Ambassador in Ankara H.E. Abzal Saparbekuly.

During this speech, H.E. H.E. Ashikbayev relayed to the audience his knowledge on Kazakhstan’s foreign policy priorities, Kazakhstan’s efforts at maintaining and strengthening the international system’s stability, and the transition period taking place in Kazakhstan’s after the resignation of Nursultan Nazarbayev as the President of Kazakhstan. The conference concluded following a question and answer session.

TASC COMMEMORATES 104TH ANNIVERSARY OF BATTLE OF ÇANAKKALE; CELEBRATES MARTYR'S DAY

The Turkish American National Steering Committee (TASC) proudly remembers the Turkish soldiers and Turkish people who gave the ultimate sacrifice by fighting back Western colonialism in the Battle of Gallipoli/Çanakkale (Feb. 17, 1915 - Jan. 9, 1916).

INFRASTRUCTURE WORK TO BE CARRIED OUT FOR THE AVIM WEBSITE ON 9-10 MARCH 2019

It has been ascertained that the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) website is being subjected to “distributed denial of service attack” (DDoS) type cyber-attacks in the last couple of days. As such, it has been decided that the AVİM website will be transferred to a more advanced web server in order to more effectively protect the website from various types of cyber-attacks. In this context, infrastructure work will be carried out for the AVİM website from 00:00 to 04:00 o’clock (Turkey time, GMT +3) on the night connecting this Saturday to Sunday (09-10.03.2019). Temporary difficulties may be experienced when trying to access the AVİM website during this time period. We would like to apologize to our visitors for any potential difficulties that may be experienced in accessing AVİM’s website.

CONFERENCE TITLED “TÜRKİYE-FRANSA İLİŞKİLERİNDE ‘ERMENİ SORUNU’ VE TÜRK DİASPORASININ ROLÜ” (“ARMENIAN QUESTION” AND THE ROLE OF THE TURKISH DIASPORA IN TURKEY-FRANCE RELATIONS) WAS HELD AT AVİM

On 1 March 2019 a conference titled “Türkiye-Fransa İlişkilerinde ‘Ermeni Sorunu’ ve Türk Diasporasının Rolü” (“Armenian Question” and the Role of the Turkish Diaspora in Turkey-France Relations) was held at AVİM. The speaker of the conference was Dr Nihal Eminoğlu, a faculty member at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Department of International Relations.

On 19 February 2019, the conference titled “200 Yıllık Bir Öykü: Dünden Bugüne Ermeni Basını” (A 200-Year Story: Armenian Press from the Past to the Present). The speaker of the conference was Dr. Hülya Eraslan, a Research Assistant at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Journalism.  

EDWARD ERICKSON’S LATEST ARTICLE, ENTITLED “THE ARMENIAN LOST CAUSE AND THE INTERPRETED HISTORY OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR” IS PUBLISHED

In the latest issue of Journal of Muslim Minority Affairs (Vol. 39, Issue 3, 2018, pp 1-7.) Dr Edward J. Erickson, an American military historian, published a very interesting and informative article, summarizing the state of the dominant narratives on the Armenian Question.

ROUND TABLE MEETING BETWEEN CENTER FOR EURASIAN STUDIES (AVİM) AND CENTER FOR INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC POLICY STUDIES (CIPPS) WAS HELD

On February 5, 2019, a round table meeting was held at AVİM, in which a delegation from the Center for International Public Policy Studies, Tokyo, comprised of President Naoki Tanaka, Deputy Secretary General Masahide Owada, Senior Fellow Tsuyoshi Okamoto, Associate Fellow Shohei Yamazaki together with First Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Ankara Akifumi Fukuoka and AVİM Director Alev Kılıç, AVİM Advisor Yiğit Alpogan and AVİM analysts participated.
