On 8 April, a delegation representing retired ambassadors visited Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to seek help and support for the raising of a monument at a suitable location in Ankara in memory of Turkish diplomats martyred by terrorist attacks - primarily by Armenian terrorist organizations.

Mr. Çavuşoğlu received this initiative with appreciation and understanding, indicating that raising such a monument was a duty borne out of loyalty towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the civil establishment of Turkey with the most casualties suffered in line of duty. He indicated that the most suitable site for such a monument would be the ceremony ground of the new compound of the Ministry of Foreign affairs to be constructed within two years, the project of which has been finalized. In the light of the favorable views of the members of the delegation, Mr. Çavuşoğlu gave the necessary instructions to the relevant head of department present at the meeting.

AVIM would like to express its gratitude for the sensitivity and resolve shown by Mr. Çavuşoğlu, and its appreciation for this result that will ensure that our sacred martyrs, who are forever in our hearts, will be remembered in such a permanent manner.
