The 25 June parliamentary elections in Albania confirmed a clear mandate for the new government, which must continue in the path of reforms, meanwhile, Europe is expecting concrete results from the vetting and fight against organized crime.
This has been the stance expressed by the President of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker in a special message in which he congratulated Prime Minister Edi Rama for the victory on June 25 election. Meanwhile, he also mentioned his approach toward the opposition.
“I’d like to congratulate you on the result achieved in the last parliamentary elections. The result of these elections shows that Albanian citizens gave you a clear mandate to continue the reforms which you have already started in the recent years. I welcome the fact that after the elections, you have addressed the opposition by stressing the need to overcome political contrasts by underlining the joint challenges that await Albania. The EU path for your country will require dialogue and constructive cooperation”, the head of the EU Commission says.
According to him, “Albania is an important partner for the European Union and the European Commission is expecting to continue with its close cooperation in preparing Albania for its accession”.
