Uzbekistan will establish its first domestic production facility for cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X), according to Uzbekneftegaz. Final contractual documents were signed at the association’s headquarters, marking a milestone in the project’s development.

As part of this initiative, the joint venture Nasaf XCP Techno has been established to oversee the project. The facility is being developed in collaboration with China’s Yunnan Xinchengpeng Polymer Technology, Techno Cable Group—a member of the UzElectroTech Industry Association—and the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex.

With a total investment of $8mn, the facility is expected to produce 35,000 tons of PE-X annually. The project will create 65 new jobs and replace imports worth $30mn per year.
