Bakaneu (13 June 2017)
The June elections in Kosovo were peaceful and quiet. This was the assessment of the EU monitors. However, they have identified several small irregularities, which have not damaged the election process.

Some of them relate to the inaccurate voters’ lists, collective voting and cases when voters have been assisted in an abusive way.

The head of the observation mission, Alojz Peterle said that in Serb dominated areas, the process was damaged by intimidation and cases of violence within the Serb community. According to him, there was not sufficient reaction in this part by Prosecution and Police.

“This raises questions about the credibility of the democratic process in these areas”, Peterle said.
