We are deeply saddened to announce that Pulat Y. Tacar, who served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye between 1955-1996, served as Türkiye’s ambassador and permanent representative in Indonesia, the European Communities (EC), and UNESCO and as the Director General of Cultural Affairs in the Ministry’s central organization in Ankara, has passed away on Saturday, 4 July.

Ambassador (R) Tacar, a highly seasoned diplomat with a legal background, an emeritus in his career, having countered Armenian allegations and historically distorted narrative against Türkiye and the Turks in every forum including high-level international platforms, enabled said allegations to be critically examined from their most vulnerable façade, that of legal, judicial basis.

His Excellency, Former Ambassador Tacar collaborated with AVİM for many years. He was among the speakers of lectures hosted by AVİM, served as a member of the editorial board of our journals, and published articles on both academic and current affairs. The latest example of this collaboration has been the book titled “The Truth Will Out” (“Gerçek Ortaya Çıkar”), published online by AVİM in 2024, which compiles Ambassador Tacar's noteworthy past works in the fields of political science and law.

Our thoughts are with Ambassador Tacar’s esteemed wife, loved ones and those who share his ideals during this difficult time. The staff of AVİM extends its heartfelt condolences.
