KEYS FOR A LEGAL ASSESSMENT OF THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE RECOGNITION DEMANDS AND INJURY REPARATION CLAIMS - AMBASSADOR (R) PULAT TACAR
On 30 March 2017, Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) will host Ambassador (R) Pulat Tacar to make a presentation titled Keys for a Legal Assessment of the Armenian Genocide Recognition Demands and Injury Reparation Claims.
Pulat Tacar, after graduating from Ankara University Faculty of Political Science Faculty, joined the MFA of the Republic of Turkey in 1955. During his years in the MFA, among other critical tasks, he served as the Ambassador of Turkey to UNESCO (1989-1995), the Ambassador of Turkey to the European Communities (1984-1987), and the Ambassador of Turkey to Indonesia (1981-1984). Ambassador (R) Pulat Tacar is the author of several books, including Avrupa İnsan Hakları Mahkemesi'nde Doğu Perinçek-İsviçre Davası: Bir Düşünceyi İfade Özgürlüğü Sorunu ve Adil Bellek Talebi (The Case of Doğu Perinçek at the European Court of Human Rights: the Problem of Freedom of Expression and the Request for Fair Memory) published in 2012. Currently, he is a member of the Scientific Board of AVİM.
On 30 March 2017, Ambassador (R) Pulat Tacar will speak about the Armenian claims that seek to establish 1915 events as genocide and the subsequent demands of reparations from a legal perspective. In his presentation, Ambassador (R) Pulat Tacar will assess the legal validity of such claims and demands.
The presentation will be in Turkish. The English text of the presentation will be available. A Q&A session will be held in Turkish and English.
