The plan is to open all chapters in the EU accession talks by 2018, Serbia's chief negotiator with the EU Tanja Miscevic said late on Monday.

Three more negotiation chapters - on public procurement, science and research and education, culture and youth - could realistically be opened by the end of 2016, she said.

"Our plan is to be completely ready and undertake the membership obligations by 2018. That means all chapters need to be opened by then, with a significant number of them also closed," Miscevic told a conference held by the Center for Contemporary Politics and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung at the Tanjug Press Center. 

The process of opening negotiation chapters must be accelerated, said Miscevic, who, however, insists on good preparations for meeting the interim benchmarks and taking negotiating positions.
