RUSSIA BARRED IMPORT OF 76.3 TONS OF GOODS FROM KYRGYZSTAN AND KAZAKHSTAN

Russia barred import of 76.3 tons of goods from Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan at the Karasuk checkpoint, the Rosselkhoznadzor administration for the Novosibirsk region said.

The goods originating from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan were meant for sale in Novosibirsk, Abakan, Ulan-Ude, and Irkutsk.

Persimmons, apples, and melons from Kyrgyzstan and onion from Kazakhstan weighing 55.7 tons had no markings on packages containing information about the product, its name, country of origin export or reexport data, the statement said.  

Dried cherries, fresh quince and persimmon, red rice from Kyrgyzstan and prunes, pomegranates, nuts from Kazakhstan, as well as Chinese mandarins and grapes weighing 609 kg had no required phytosanitary certificates confirming the safety of the products, the statement said.

Rosselkhoznadzor said in line with the international quarantine laws, the import of these products into the territory of Russia was barred and the goods were sent back to senders in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
