Prime Minister Adviser Hussein Alawi announced today, Sunday, that Iraq has reached advanced stages in developing the capabilities of its armed forces, while confirming a documented timetable with the Iraqi and U.S. Foreign Ministries for the withdrawal of coalition forces.

Alawi told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “since 2022, the Iraqi government has worked to secure the country and maintain stability,” noting “the commitment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, to build and enhance the performance of Iraq’s armed forces, including the development of weapons and their types within the military.”

He added that “the government achieved this through the Supreme Armament Committee by allocating funds via the three-year budget and financing special weapons funds,” pointing out that “readiness is assessed through reports from the Joint Operations Command, Army General Staff, and the National Security Council.”
