With only four days to go before Armenia’s parliamentary elections, Russia on Wednesday continued to denounce Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s pro-Western foreign policy and urged Armenians to “save” their country.

Meanwhile, Pashinyan again downplayed the heightened tensions with Moscow, promising to get the Russians to lift their de facto embargo on key imports from Armenia if his party wins Sunday’s elections.

“Armenia must be saved by the citizens of Armenia, who now have every opportunity to make a choice in favor of their own country in the elections, taking into account national interests,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, told journalists.
