"We are hoping creation of a new momentum after elections for the European Parliament and during the meeting of the EU Council in June to have a decision on visas,” for Kosovo, Hoxhaj said. Elections for the European Parliament will be held in May 2019. Minister Hoxha said that Kosovo is in the final phase of visa free regime with the EU Schengen area, adding that Pristina has fulfilled all required criteria on visa liberalization. She said that it is with the EU member countries to decide on lifting visas for Kosovo citizens. Kosovo’s EU minister explained that the EU members are waiting for the European Parliament elections to be concluded in order to take a decision. Kosovo citizens are the most isolated in the Western Balkan region, who cannot travel without visas in the EU’s Schengen area.
