In the region, there is broad support for joining the European Union (EU) and a strong majority that considers Russia's war against Ukraine unjustified. This is shown by the results of the latest multinational survey for the Western Balkans(*) by the Center for Survey Research (CISR) of the International Republican Institute (IRI).

When asked if they would support joining the EU if a referendum were held today, in five of the six countries a strong majority would vote for joining the Union, from 68 percent in Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to 92 percent in Albania. In Serbia, most of the 40 percent support joining the EU.

(*) AVİM considers the term "Western Balkans" to be a politically motivated separatist terminology and insists on the use of the geographical and historical identification "Balkans" regarding the region.
