EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas made some assessments before her visit to Türkiye. Kallas also made a statement about the Ukraine-Russia War.

The High Representative of the European Union (EU) for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, will pay an official visit to Ankara, the capital of Turkey, on January 24, 2025. EU Representative Kallas, who will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, made evaluations to Anadolu Agency (AA) before the visit. 

Underlining that Turkey, which he sees as an important actor in cooperation, especially in regional issues, is a strategic partner with common interests and a candidate for the EU, Kallas said at the beginning of his assessment,  "It is the right time to visit Turkey and I will do so in the first part of my term. We have many topics. In addition to regional security, we can discuss cooperation on different points such as energy, for example. "
