The “Caucasus-2020” strategic military exercises have kicked off in Russia, gathering nearly 80,000 attendees, and about 1,000 foreign soldiers are invited to the event.

The military exercises are being conducted on September 21 to 26 and under the leadership of Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Minister of Defense Valery Gerasimov in the area of the Southern Military District.

The main operations will be carried out at the "Prudboy", "Ashuluk" and "Kapustin Yar" military stations, as well as “Arzgirsky” and “Kopanskaya” aviation military stations. In addition, episodes of operations of the groups of the Black Sea and Caspian Sea fleets will be enacted in the waters of the Caspian Sea, along with the warships of Iran.

As reported the Russian Ministry of Defense, a total of up to 1,000 servicemen have been invited from Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar and Pakistan, and there will be guest observers from Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Sri Lanka.
