The Belarusian Investigative Committee and the Uzbek Prosecutor General's Office have signed a cooperation agreement, BelTA learned from the Investigative Committee. An Investigative Committee delegation headed by its Chairman Ivan Noskevich made a visit to Uzbekistan. The Belarusian officials had a working meeting with Uzbek Prosecutor General Ikhtiyor Abdullayev on 19 December. “The sides discussed the investigation of various kinds of crimes, criminal law enforcement, and ways to develop cooperation between the two agencies. A cooperation agreement was signed between the Belarusian Investigative Committee and the Uzbek Prosecutor General's Office,” the committee noted. The two agencies will ensure the implementation of international agreements in criminal law together, fight against different kinds of crimes, train and retrain specialists, and carry out joint scientific research. The agreement envisages exchange of information and experience in the work of preliminary investigation bodies, including recruitment, appointment, and investigative practices. The sides shall also help each other conduct pre-investigation inquiries, arrange working meetings, consultations, visits, joint events, and carry out scientific research. The document is meant to help the two agencies fulfill their tasks, improve investigative practices, and make crime prevention even more effective. “Exchanging positive experience and advanced practices in solving and investigating crimes, and enforcing criminal law, working out new strategies to develop cooperation under the agreement and other international treaties in criminal law will definitely benefit our agencies,” Ivan Noskevich noted. During the visit to Uzbekistan, the Belarusian delegation also had working meetings with Uzbek First Deputy Interior Minister Davron Nazarmukhamedov and Deputy Supreme Court Chairman Bakhodir Dekhkanov. The sides exchanged opinions on the existing legal systems in the two countries, relevant problems of crime prevention, and prospects of bilateral interaction. Ivan Noskevich invited the Uzbek colleagues to cooperate with Preliminary Investigation, the in-house magazine of the Investigative Committee.
