History of Truth

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has commented on some media reports suggesting that the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was depicted as part of Armenia in one of the German textbooks intended for immigrant children.  Following the reports, Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Germany immediately took the necessary measures and contacted TELC (The European Language Certificates), a company responsible for the publication of this textbook, Hikmat Hajiyev, spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told APA on Friday.

In the letter addressed to the Azerbaijani embassy, TELC gGmbH, the author of the textbook, admitted its mistake, noting that the world map, made by Fotolia agency with errors, was published in B1.1 and B1.2 volumes of the textbook titled “German language for integration”, Hajiyev noted.

Expressing regret over the mistake, the company said it is far from giving political messages, he said.

The company promised to republish the abovementioned volumes and change the map, added Hajiyev.

According to the spokesman, the company made a statement on its website that the world map in the textbook contains errors and these volumes will be republished in a corrected version.
