Baku plans to further collaborate with Belarus in the military-technical sector, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev said at a meeting with Belarusian Ambassador to Baku, Gennady Akhramovich, on Wednesday.

"We buy military hardware from Belarus, and are very content with (its) quality and performance. Belarus demonstrates a very high level when it comes to the arms industry, and we aim to continue cooperation in the military-technical field," he stated, pointing out that Russia remains "the biggest military hardware supplier to Azerbaijan. "We also import a large amount of weaponry and equipment from Turkey, Israel, Pakistan, and European countries," Aliyev added. The Azeri leader also said he was surprised that Armenia in this context "only makes claims against Belarus."

Bilateral ties between Azerbaijan and Belarus cover many areas, the Azeri head of state noted, adding that he will make an official visit to Minsk in the near future. "We cooperate actively in the political arena. The level of mutual trust is so high that we discuss all the issues on bilateral agenda, as well as regional and international ones. We can see good progress in the economic sector. The growth of trade is a vivid example," Aliyev pointed out.

He emphasized that the agenda of the forthcoming visit is "very broad" with "many documents" to be signed.
