The President of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, confirmed today, Sunday, that the Union's decision in the Baghdad conference confirmed the necessity of joint Arab action for Syria's return to its Arab surroundings.

The media office of the Speaker of Parliament stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "Al-Halbousi visited with the delegation of the Arab Parliamentary Union, which included a number of heads of parliamentary councils, heads of delegations and members, the Syrian Arab Republic, where the delegation met the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Bashar al-Assad in the Al-Sha’ab Palace in Damascus, in addition to visiting the Syrian People's Assembly.
