Campaigning for an unprecedented third consecutive term in power, Poland’s Law and Justice (PiS) party chose to endanger its alliance with Kyiv and to add yet another explosive dispute with Brussels when it blocked imports of Ukrainian grain.
The reason?
The votes of Polish farmers — a crucial bloc the ruling party has to keep onside if it hopes to win this fall's parliamentary election.
