US military support critical for Taiwan to fend off a Chinese invasion, but the victory may be ‘pyrrhic’, think-tank says.

Taiwan is likely to defeat a Chinese invasion if the United States comes to the island’s defence, a prominent think-tank says, but it warns that such a victory would come at “enormous” cost, including the loss of tens of thousands of lives and damage to Washington’s global position.
