The Uzbekistan Deputy PM Sardor Umurzakov yesterday hosted the Russian Deputy PM Alexei Overchuk at the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade.
The counterparts discussed issues of coordination and practical implementation of joint projects in Uzbekistan - with 104 various sector projects worth US$ 5.8 billion are being readied, the ministry said.
Mechanisms for accelerating the approval of a number of intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents, the signing of which will boost the two-way trade between the two countries were also reviewed.
A separate agreement was reached on stepping up interaction between the ministries and departments of the two countries to prepare for the visit of the President Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation. In this vein, the practical aspects of organizing a number of joint events were discussed, including the II Forum of Interprovincial Cooperation, the opening of an exhibition and cultural center of the Republic of Uzbekistan at VDNKh, the National Exhibition "Made in Uzbekistan" in Moscow, the Educational Forum and the Media Forum.
A constructive exchange of views took place on cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Union and the continuation of active bilateral cooperation in this area.
The parties pointed to the need to advance bilateral efforts on the development of practical mechanisms for systematizing labor migration and the introduction in this area of an orderly system that ensures the protection of the rights of Uzbek labor migrants in the Russian Federation.
