The United Arab Emirates is in support of a peaceful settlement to the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict, the UAE Ambassador to Armenia Jassim Mohammed Al Qasimi told a news conference on Thursday. 

“We are for the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh conflict. We have always supported a peaceful resolution to any conflict be in in our region or in other regions. We certainly want to see the day coming when the conflict is settled,” he told reporters.

When asked by a reporter of Panorama.am how the UAE would assess the cooperation level with the new Armenian authorities, the diplomat said the relations between the countries have not changed after the power shift in Armenia.

“Our cooperation is with the people and society,” Al Qasimi said, reminding that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Armenia.

“Our relations with Armenia will not change. They are continuous and developing. The changes in Armenia are solely its domestic affair and refer only to the Armenian people. We cooperate with the government that is accepted by the Armenian people. We appreciate the cooperation between the two states,” the diplomat stressed.
