Summing up the results of the Cabinet meeting held on May 8, Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov was satisfied with the fact that the government managed to maintain a high GDP growth rate during the first four months of the year, which amounted to 6.3%, Chronicles of Turkmenistan reported.

At the same time, the head of state stated that the “global economic situation remains extremely complicated” and the authorities expect a reduction in domestic production.

According to Berdymukhammedov, the current sharp drop in oil prices can lead “to a more unfavorable situation compared to the financial crisis of 2008 and the fall in oil prices in 2014-2015”.
