During my recent visit to Azerbaijan, discussions were held on creating an Azerbaijan-Russia-Turkey trilateral format, said Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, APA reports quoting Anadolu agency.

He said that there was a positive approach towards this issue in Azerbaijan. “Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hold discussions in this regard during his visit to Russia and Putin without hesitating positively approached this issue. Several trilateral mechanisms, in which Turkey and Azerbaijan are in the center, are working well in the Balkans. There are a number of economic and political issues, and regional projects to be discussed”, said Cavusoglu.

The minister mentioned the existence of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, which he said is a serious threat to security in the Caucasus.

“We have made efforts to solve the problem before. Russia is making serious efforts right now. These are both efforts made by the OSCE Minsk Group and also Putin’s personal efforts. A meeting took place in Saint Petersurg with the participation of the three presidents. When looking at Russia’s proposals, we can see that these are the same proposals we made to Armenia years ago. Our Russian and Azerbaijani brothers want Turkey to contribute to this matter. For the sake of the region’s security and future, we will do what we can as to this matter. We will have a chance to ponder this matter together within trilateral mechanism”, said the Turkish minister.
