urkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in Ashgabat received the Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Exchanges of the Republic of Turkey Rifat Hisarjyklyoglu, the state-run newspaper Turkmenistan: Golden Age reported on August 2.

During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current status of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation.

Rifat Hisarjyklyoglu confirmed the readiness of Turkish business circles to continue taking an active part in the implementation of large-scale reform programs and infrastructure projects in Turkmenistan. He also emphasized the high prospects and potential of the Turkmen market for Turkish companies.

The sides emphasized that the agreements reached at the highest level, the established regulatory and legal framework, as well as the bonds of friendship and historical and cultural community uniting the peoples of Turkmenistan and Turkey are the reliable basis for effective cooperation between the two countries.

In this context, it was noted that there are favorable prospects for expanding the range of bilateral trade turnover, encouraging investment activity, and for implementation of new joint projects. A significant role in deepening and diversifying productive contacts should be played by the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Turkish Commission and the joint Business Council, as well as by specialized exhibitions and business forums held on a regular basis.

Business relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey have not always been smooth, as Turkish companies have encountered difficulties in the tightly-controlled Turkmen market.
