Serbia's infrastructure ministry has said it plans to seek financing from European Union (EU) towards the cost of a project for the overhaul of the Belgrade-Zagreb railway line jointly with the Croatian government.

During a meeting in Zagreb, Serbian infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic and her Croatian counterpart Oleg Butkovic agreed on the framework of a draft document for cooperation on the project, the ministry said in a statement on Monday.

On the territory of Serbia, the project envisages the reconstruction of both tracks of the Golubinac-Sid section of the railway line, as well as the overhaul of the Ruma-Sid section, at a total cost of about 250 million euro ($308 million), the ministry said.

The 412 km-long Belgrade-Zagreb railway line is part of pan-European Transport Corridor X.

Mihajlovic is on a two-day visit to Croatia as part of a delegation led by Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic.
