South Korean President Moon Jae In will send a senior official to Japan on Sunday to explain the outcome of talks between his envoys and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, a presidential spokesman said Friday.

The head of South Korea’s National Intelligence Service, Suh Hoon, will meet with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday, the presidential spokesman said.

Moon will also send Chung Eui Yong, chief of the National Security Office, to China on Saturday to brief Yang Jiechi, a member of the Chinese Communist Party’s Politburo, on the outcome of the trip to North Korea.

On Wednesday, Suh and Chung visited North Korea as part of a five-member delegation and met with Kim. The envoys and Kim agreed that Moon will travel to Pyongyang from Sept. 18-20 for a summit with the North Korean leader.

The envoys quoted Kim as telling them that he wants to end long years of hostility, improve relations with the United States and realize denuclearization before the end of U.S. President Donald Trump’s first term in January 2021
