Russia and Kazakhstan completed the process of boundary delimitation, the press service of the Russian presidential administration reports.

"The delimitation of the border between Russia and Kazakhstan has been completed (approximately 7.5 thousand km long border) ... Work is underway to demarcate the frontier, 86.7% of the state border's entire length was demarcated," the press service said.

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will hold a meeting at the Interregional Cooperation Forum in Omsk, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported.

The modern state border between Russia and Kazakhstan is in the same location as formerly the administrative-territorial border between the Kazakh SSR and RSFSR. It assumed its modern shape in 1930. The border between Kazakhstan and Russia does not form a border between the territories populated by Kazakhs and Russians and other ethnic groups, because they live on both sides of the border. This situation began to take shape at the beginning of the 18th century, when the authorities of the Russian Empire pursued resettlement of Russian merchants and peasants to the lands bordering Kazakhstan.
