The President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, stressed the importance of strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between Iraq and Mauritania.

A statement by the Presidency of the Republic, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, "The President of the Republic, Abdel al-Latif Jamal Rashid, received today, Sunday, at Baghdad Palace, the Mauritanian Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. al-Hassan Muhammad Aliyat , who delivered a message of congratulation for the Iraqi President from the Mauritanian President, Muhammad Ould Ghazouani, on the occasion of being elected as the country's new President.”
