The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of Iraq, Masrour Barzani, announced on Sunday the success of the legislative elections in the region, while thanking the Independent High Electoral Commission.

Barzani said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "The success of the elections process for the sixth session of Kurdistan Parliament is another success for the region, and a new test of its democratic principles."

He added, "On this occasion, I congratulate all citizens of the Kurdistan Region, with all their components, expressing my appreciation for their steadfastness and active participation, especially the families of the honorable martyrs," adding, "I also extend my thanks to the Independent High Electoral Commission in Iraq for conducting and supervising this electoral process, appreciating its efforts."
