Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has expressed his country’s readiness to assist in de-escalating regional tensions during a meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh in Baku.

The president emphasized that wars and conflicts continue in many parts of the world today, but that, thanks to Azerbaijan’s initiative, peace has already been established in the South Caucasus.

He expressed confidence that this holds great importance for Iran, which borders both Azerbaijan and Armenia.
