Armenia’s Investigative Committee has announced the uncovering of a large-scale plot to carry out terrorist acts and forcibly seize power in the country, organized under the guise of the Srbazan Paykar (Sacred Struggle) movement led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan (presented in the press release as B.G.).

According to the statement, Galstanyan and his supporters initially pursued political goals through public rallies and marches. However, authorities claim that by late 2024, frustrated with what they saw as ineffective constitutional methods, the group began planning to overthrow the government by violent means.

The investigation alleges that the group aimed to establish 200-250 coordinated strike units made up of former military personnel and police officers, each with a specific mission. Their alleged plans included creating chaos through targeted disruptions such as orchestrated car crashes, sabotage of power and internet infrastructure, and attacks on public institutions – all intended to paralyze the state apparatus and instill fear among the population.
