Albanian Parliament appointed four new ministers in the latest cabinet reshuffle on Thursday.
The ruling majority MPs approved the presidential decrees to nominate Fatmir Xhafaj as new Minister of Interior, Ogerta Manastirliu as Minister of Health, Olta Xhaçka as Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, and Eduard Shalsi as Minister of Local Government Affairs.
The centre-right opposition MPs boycotted again the today’s plenary session of the parliament. For over a month, the opposition MPs and supporters are protesting in front of the Prime Minister’s office along Tirana’s main boulevard, pressing for creation of a technical administration that would take the country to the election.
Earlier this month, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced replacement of four ministers – namely the Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri, Health Minister Ilir Beqja, Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Blendi Klosi, and Minister of Local Government Affairs Bledi Bledi Çuçi – saying the changes were being made only to allow the replaced ministers devote their time campaigning for the June 18 parliamentary election.
