Poland should develop its own nuclear defence to face the threats posed by Russia, the Polish president, Karol Nawrocki, recently floated in an interview with private broadcaster Polsat News.

He described himself as a “great supporter of Poland joining the nuclear project” and pursuing the path of developing its own nuclear potential, respecting all international regulations.

Following the president’s remarks, defence minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz then told reporters on Monday (16 February) that he was “in favour of developing our own research and development capabilities,” within nuclear defence, according to the Polish news agency PAP.
