During the mission’s stay in Belgrade (4–20 November), consultations under Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Agreement will be held, as well as talks about the economic programme that would be supported by a new arrangement with the IMF. Consultations under Article IV are a statutory obligation for all Fund members and take place once a year. The last consultations of this kind with the Republic of Serbia were held in May 2013.

The talks will centre on the macroeconomic situation in the country, and the objectives and measures of the Government’s economic policy in the coming period, which would serve as the basis for concluding an arrangement with the IMF.
A comprehensive review will be made of the current economic, balance of payments and fiscal developments, with a special emphasis on budget execution in 2014. The talks will also be conducted on the way to achieve a sustainable level of public debt, as well as on issues relating to monetary policy, the financial sector, structural reforms, labour market reforms and public sector employment, restructuring of public enterprises and Serbia’s macroeconomic outlook.
