Minister of Defense of Kyrgyzstan, Major General Taalaibek Omuraliyev attended a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) held in Dushanbe on April 27.

The press service of the Kyrgyz Defense Ministry reported that the meeting took place on the initiative of Tajikistan’s Defense Minister, Colonel-General Sherali Mirzo.

Prior to the meeting, defense ministers of the CSTO member state were received by the Chairman of the CSTO Council, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The meeting discussed military security issues of Collective Security Treaty Organization member states, countering challenges and threats and measures to neutralize them.

Defense ministers considered plans to equip the Collective Rapid Reaction Force with modern weapons, military equipment and special means.

They also debated joint preparation of forces and means of the collective security system for 2022 and the plan for consultations on foreign policy, defense, security issues for the second half of 2021 - the first half of 2022.

Following the meeting, a number of documents were signed to address regional security and cooperation issues within the CSTO Defense Ministers Council.
