European Mission for the Rule of Law has ended its oversight mandate for the Customs of Kosovo, while now its role will be an advising role on a strategic level.

During the ceremony, authorities praised the EU assistance offered through EULEX and considered it a good investment.

Lulzim Rafuna, general director of the Customs of Kosovo said that customs revenues have grown on an annual basis under the supervision of EULEX.

“Customs have marked a significant progress toward meeting EU standards with the help and guideline of our international partners, who have helped us to make Customs a modern institution and a model as one of the most successful institutions in Kosovo”, Rafuna said.

Meanwhile, Bernd Thran U.D, head of EULEX said that Kosovo’s Customs are expected to cash in one billion Euros at the end of this year.

“The achievements have come as a result of the implementation of reforms and new measures against corruption and improved procedures, which Kosovo’s Customs have seen throughout the years with the help of EULEX”, Thran said.
