Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized on Monday the necessity of strengthening cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to alleviate the suffering of those affected and support social stability.

The Presidential Media Office stated in a press release, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received today, Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the head of the ICRC delegation in Iraq, Ikhtiyar Aslanov."

During the meeting, according to the statement, the President stressed "the importance of directing the ICRC's programs toward the most urgent humanitarian priorities and focusing on enhancing the effectiveness of the response in the areas most in need."
