IRAQI FOREIGN MINISTER CALLS FOR EMERGENCY MEETING OF ARAB FOREIGN MINISTERS

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein called on Wednesday for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting scheduled to be held in Istanbul early next week.

The ministry said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received a phone call from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Badr Abdel Ati," noting that "the latest developments on the regional scene were discussed during the call, particularly the changes in the course of the ongoing war against the Islamic Republic of Iran and their repercussions on the security and stability of the region."

It added, "In this context, and in his capacity as President of the current session of the Arab Summit, Fuad Hussein called for an emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers on the sidelines of the OIC meeting scheduled to be held in Istanbul early next week, with the aim of coordinating Arab positions on the accelerating developments and confronting current challenges with a collective and responsible spirit."
