Iraq’s envoy to the United Nations announced on Tuesday his rejection of attacks that violate the country’s sovereignty, stressing that Iraq will not allow any party to undermine its security.

The Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Permanent Mission of Iraq to the United Nations in New York, Abbas Kadhim Obaid, said in his speech before the Security Council that Iraq rejects attacks on its territory from any party, indicating that the attacks are a violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and pose a threat to its stability.

Two attacks occurred in Iraq in mid-January and early February. The first was an Iranian strike that targeted several areas in Erbil. The second was an American attack that targeted the Poplar Mobilization Forces (PMF) headquarters on the Iraqi-Syrian border.
