Iraq's President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Faeq Zidane announced on Wednesday the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Russian Public Prosecutor to enhance cooperation on Thursday.

Zidane told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): "We received an invitation from the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to learn about the judicial and legal system in Russia, and this invitation was accepted," indicating that "this is the first visit of an Iraqi judicial delegation to the judiciary in Russia."

He added, "Tomorrow, a memorandum of legal and judicial cooperation will be signed with the Russian Attorney General to enhance judicial and legal cooperation between the two countries," noting that "we have extended an invitation to our counterparts in the Russian judiciary to visit Baghdad and learn about the judicial system in Iraq."
