Iraq and Türkiye agreed to extend the authority of the Iraqi state in Sinjar and to hand over the Zilkan camp.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, and the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, met in New York and announced their shared resolutions, according to a joint statement reported by the PM Media Office, and received by the Iraqi News Agency - INA.

The two parties agreed "to deepen security cooperation during negotiations in which Iraqi and Turkish authorities discussed the strategic relations between the two countries in all aspects; in this context, they agreed to fully extend the authority of the Iraqi state in Sinjar and to end the presence of banned foreign armed elements.”
