Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili met with International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Fatou Bensouda at the 53rd Munich Security Conference in Germany today.

The sides discussed an ongoing investigation into Russian war crimes during the 2008 Russia-Georgia war.

Kvirikashvili reconfirmed that the Georgian side is ready to fully cooperate with the investigation and assist ICC in collecting all needed materials related to the alleged crimes.

The Georgian Prime Minister said that it is important for all crimes against humanity to be investigated.

"No offender involved in the ethnic cleansing of Georgians and murder of Georgian prisoners of war should remain unpunished”, Kvirikashvili said.

Bensouda told the Georgian Prime Minister that despite the Russian side still not cooperating with ICC investigation, the process is continuing.

She thanked Kvirikashvili for Georgia’s openness and active assistance in the process of investigation.

ICC announced the launch of an investigation into the 2008 Russia-Georgia war crimes in 2015.
