Hundreds marched in Pristina on Thursday to mark the International Day of the Disappeared, including families of people who went missing during the war, Kosovo officials and international diplomats.

A total of 1,648 people remain missing, most of them Kosovo Albanians, but also Serbs, Roma and members of other ethnic communities.

At the end of the march, leaders, diplomats and relatives of the missing placed wreaths at the monument commemorating missing persons near the Kosovo Assembly.

“Wartime missing persons remain an open wound to Kosovo,” Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, who attended the march alongside President Hashim Thaci, wrote on Facebook.

“We will do our utmost to shed light on the fate of even the last one of Kosovo’s missing persons from the war,” he added.
