Government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi confirmed on Monday that the development road project represents economic benefit for all countries in the region.

Al-Awadi said in his blog post on the x website, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Iraq welcomes all the international corridor projects that pass next to it, which are the North-South project that penetrates Iran, the Grand Corridor project that penetrates Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and the Belt and Road project that penetrates Iran and Turkey as these projects together will enhance the economic connectivity and importance of our region when they are completed.”

He added, "The development road project will be essential and integrated with these projects," pointing out that it is "low in cost, close in distance, and represents an economic benefit for all countries in the region."
