GENERAL PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE BLOCKS 86 WEBSITES IN KYRGYZSTAN FOR SPREADING EXTREMISM AND TERRORISM IDEAS

InternetUpon results of cooperation with the Interior Ministry and the National Security Committee, the General Prosecutor's Office brought in 13 legal statements to block websites that promote extremism, reported the press service of the Office.

86 websites were blocked for spreading the extremism and terrorism ideas in Kyrgyzstan based on the court's ruling, the statement said.

Interior Ministry, the National Security Committee, State Committee for IT and Communications,  and the State Agency for Communications are the ones responsible for enforcing the court's ruling to block the access to the extremist websites, the statement said.

In 2015, at the initiative of the General Prosecutor's Office, an expert working group was set up for prompt response to the facts of extremism propaganda on the Internet.

By the results of the multiagency expert group work, the Parliament adopted the amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure of the Kyrgyz Republic and the law on countering extremism activity. Today, these amendments are in force, the statement read.
