Greek Cypriot Fileleftheros newspaper reports that an informal five-party meeting on the Cyprus(*) issue is scheduled to take place in Switzerland from March 17 to 19, ahead of the European Council summit in late March.

The meeting will involve the five parties in the Cyprus dispute, including the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot leaders, as well as the three guarantor powers. UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo is expected to visit Cyprus and the region in February as part of the preparations for this multilateral meeting.

The Fileleftheros report suggests that the informal meeting is to be held before the European Council summit, which is scheduled for March 20-21. UN Secretary-General António Guterres has been invited to attend the summit.

(*) AVİM uses "Cyprus" as a geographic name. AVİM considers the expression "Republic of Cyprus" to mean the Greek Cypriot Administration of Southern Cyprus.
