The Prime Minister Haradinaj admitted that there are hesitating EU members but expressed his hope that by the end of year Kosovo citizens will get positive news on travelling without visas within the EU Schengen area. Haradinaj made the statements after meeting mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti. The Prime Minister also urged ruling and opposition parties not to convey “pessimistic messages” over visas. “We will get positive news on visas before the end of the year. No EU countries are blocking this process, there are some hesitating countries however, but this is a political issue,” he said.

The European Commission and the European Parliament have recommended waving of visas for Kosovo, but the final decision will be taken by the EU member countries individually. Kosovo leaders keep saying that Kosovo citizens will be able to travel without visas in the EU Schengen area in 2019, despite statements of the EU representatives who urged Kosovo leaders not to mention any deadline on lifting visas.
