Bulgaria has sent four emergency rescue teams to help the citizens of Macedonia’s capital Skopje tackle the consequences of torrential rains and devastating floods that have killed at least 21 people, Sofia-based bTV reported on Monday.

The Bulgarian emergency teams and the Macedonian authorites will decide jointly on Monday whether additional assistance is needed, bTV said.

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has sent condolences to the Macedonian people over the loss of life and ordered the government to study what other help Bulgaria can offer to the neoghbouring country.

Macedonia declared a two-week state of emergency over the disaster on Sunday.
